On hand-stretched canvas
'Red & Blue Meet Yellow' was originally painted for a webseries I was producing at the time, at and for Wolf/Sheep Arthouse. In this particular episode I was tasked with creating an video entirely from my creative content. I had to write the soundtrack, stretch and paint the painting, and film/edit the episode, all in the space of a single week.

I employed various techniques and repositioned the camera a countless number of times in order to capture my work adequately.

That being said, I was not quite pleased with the final outcome and ended up finishing it a few months later (long enough for it to torment me from the wall). I do tend to do that though; I believe a good, meditative observation period is essential to overcoming a creative obstacle to the true best of your abilities.
As you can infer from the position of the camera, here I am stretching the canvasses on the ceiling, defying gravity. You can readily buy stretching frames from art stores. Though they tend to vary quite a bit in price, they make for a much more economical (and fun) choice when compared to buying a pre stretched, and pre gesso'd canvas. They also make a much more satisfying drum-like stretch when done by hand, as they stiffen up once coated with white gesso. The spray paint allows the raw canvas to retain most of its tension. In the beginning of the process, all I knew was that I wanted each canvas split 50/50 with two contrasting colors. Besides the fact that these had to be done in a couple days (pouring wet paint takes notoriously long, especially in sub street level, irregularly heated, commercial spaces), spray painting each half was all I knew I was going to do. So the pieces were masked and spray painted as a base. The next step was taking some house paint and creating some movement, in the form of expressive curves and large brushstrokes, an attempt to embrace potential productive accidents, thus aiding with my time challenges.
I probably should've just stopped there.
Yes, those shoes were quickly ruined.
Original time restrictions meant a strict no-small-brush policy. Here I am adding some work in later (cheating).
Final preparations for the at-the-time upcoming show with Wolf/Sheep, 'Gypsies Have No Heroes' 2013, of which is pictured below.

I'll be adding some more detail shots of the painting itself in the near future.
